Case study story

At 2pm on 18th January 2018, in the midst of one of the biggest storms of the year, the High Access helpdesk received a call from a concerned client whose property had been damaged in the high winds.

Expert operatives were immediately dispatched to the site to assess the damage. Upon arriving they identified severe damage to a gable end triangular wall, leaving the building exposed in the ongoing storm. Fast and efficient repair was essential.

The team worked safely to clear the debris and secure the property from further damage. By 5.15pm the team had successfully secured the property and surrounding area, just three hours after the initial call.

With further recommendations made, the client had peace of mind that the property was prepared for any weather ahead.

Works carried out:

  • Inspection and weather proofing of failed gable end
  • Removal of loose brickwork
  • Safe installation of tarpaulin around all edges, folding the lead soaker at the top and pinning it securely
  • Condoned off area to make safe for the public
  • Provided further recommendations for our client to efficiently reinstate the wall and roof area

Equipment deployed:

  • Access via 22m truck mounted access platform with IPAF
  • Supply of working at height trained operatives
  • Supply of roofing supervisor
